Building Division
Description:
The Building Division is the central resource for
construction code information and conducts pre-application
and pre-construction consultation meetings with developers,
architects, owners, and builders. The Building Division
manages all the building permit review and construction
activity to safeguard life, health, property, and public
welfare by assuring compliance with the city adopted uniform
construction codes, including the building, electrical,
plumbing, mechanical, accessibility, and dangerous building
codes.
Planning & Zoning
Description:
The Planning Division is a resource for developers, property
owners, business owners, citizens, and other city departments
and provides information to the public about General Plan
policies, population growth, development trends, and land
use. The Planning Division provides professional support for
the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and
City Council and reviews all land use applications, including
lot alterations, abandonment's, variances, conditional use
permits, rezoning, planned developments, and subdivisions to
assure compliance with the city's zoning and subdivision
codes.

Planning
Commission
Duties:
To engage in planning activities associated with the
development of a general plan stating community goals and
development policies. To maintain standards of architecture
and site design pursuant to the community design ordinance.
To produce and recommend regulations, code and ordinances
for consideration by the city council. To hear requests for
land use actions to include conditional uses, subdivision
plats, general and specific plan amendments, planned unit
developments and zone changes. To hear appeals of
Development Services Department staff decisions on design
reviews and lot alteration.
Meeting Dates/Times/Location:
The meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the Month
at 9 am in the Police Facility.
Board of
Adjustment
Duties:
To hear appeals when there is an
alleged error in any order, requirement, or decision made by
the zoning administrator.
To hear requests for variances from the terms of the zoning
code because of special circumstances applicable to the
property, including its size, shape, topography, location, or
surroundings, where the strict application of the code would
deprive such property of privileges enjoyed by other
property in the same zoning district.
To hear appeals by persons aggrieved, or by any officer,
department, board or bureau of municipality affected by a
decision of the zoning administrator

The meetings are held at 9:00 a.m. 2nd and 4th Mondays of
the Month in the Police Facility 2360 McCulloch Blvd, Lake
Havasu City, AZ 86403.
