Fire Prevention

Among many other things, the Fire Prevention Division assists contractors and owners in obtaining the proper fire department permits, and the process of plan submittal, plan review, and inspections as required by Lake Havasu City and the International Fire Code. The present codes in use are the 2006 International fire code and current additions of NFPA codes. If you need any information, please call 928-453-3313.

Fire Sprinkler Information

In September 1994, the Lake Havasu City Council approved an ordinance that required the installation of fire sprinkler systems in new construction for the following occupancies:

  • All commercial structures regardless of size.
  • All multi-family structures such as duplexes, triplexes, apartments, etc.
  • Single family homes that are constructed where the slab of the main living area is twenty feet vertically above the street level benchmark.

Note: While our city ordinance does not require fire sprinklers in single family homes it is highly recommended.
