FIRE DEPARTMENT
TRAINING
Our training facility
includes two classrooms, a training tower, administrative offices, and drill
grounds. The drill grounds include areas for extrication,
confined space, technical rescue, and hose and ladder
evolutions.
The Training Division
coordinates suppression, recruit and EMS training, testing, and
program development for the department. The Training Division's
main focus is to provide the highest level of safety and service
to our members and the public by providing the department with
quality training and education.

Their
areas of responsibility include:

In Service Training
- Consists of weekly company training activities, monthly
specialized training sessions, quarterly drill evaluations,
yearly state-required certifications (EMS & HazMat), and
required drills to maintain top firefighting performance
levels.

New Recruit Training
- Recruits attend a 16-week academy where they learn basic
firefighting skills. In addition, they receive State
Firefighter I and II, and Hazardous Materials First
Responder certifications.

EMS Training -
Coordinates programs, training, and continuing education for
CPR, EMT, and Paramedic recertification's.

Hazmat & Technical
Rescue - Coordinates programs, training, and continuing
education for hazmat, swift water, lakeshore, confined-space
and high-angle rope rescues.

Safety - Ensures
that all chief officers and captains are qualified as
incident safety officers at multiple-alarm incidents.
