Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Accident
January 19, 2016

On January 19, 2016, at approximately 5:54 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Palo Verde Boulevard South and Acoma Boulevard North for a reported two-vehicle traffic accident with injuries. Officers arrived on scene and found that a red 2008 Audi passenger vehicle struck a white 2012 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck at the intersection.

Investigators determined the driver of the Chevy Colorado, 62-year-old Joseph Morgan, was traveling northbound on Acoma Boulevard North when he was struck by the Audi driven by 22-year-old Nicholas Hasson, which was traveling westbound on Palo Verde Boulevard South.  The Chevrolet truck was struck on the passenger side which caused the vehicle to roll onto its side. Mr. Morgan was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Nicholas Hasson received moderate injuries and was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center. Both Morgan and Hasson are residents of Lake Havasu City.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team is continuing its investigation of this incident. It has been determined that Nicholas Hasson was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the red light at the intersection. At this point, alcohol appears to be a factor in this accident.
