Shots Fired in Neighborhood by Resident Results in Police Standoff

 

On Monday April 16, 2007 at approximately 5:12 pm Lake Havasu City Police Department officers responded to calls of shots fired from the residence at 2381 Alpine Lane.  The responding officers established a perimeter of the area and attempted to contact the subject.  Telephone contact with the subject was established by 911 dispatchers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department.

 

After a short amount of dialogue with the subject, the Lake Havasu City Police Department SWAT team responded and assumed control of the police standoff.  Residents of the area were evacuated for their safety.

 

The police standoff consisted of lengthy off and on dialogue with the subject, along with several shots being fired by the subject inside and out of the residence.  The standoff was resolved peacefully with the subject, Glen Kelly Dryden, age 29, surrendering to police on Tuesday April 17, 2007 at approximately 9:25am.  Several weapons were recovered from the residence.

 

Due to the length of this situation the Lake Havasu City Police Department SWAT team was assisted by police officers from the Bullhead City Police Department SWAT team and police officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

 

This case is still under investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
