July
30, 2007
At 12:26 a.m. Monday, July 30, Lake
Havasu City Fire crews responded to a report of an alarm sounding and smoke
coming from the old Golden Unicorn shop located on the north side of the
English Village. The initial reports
came from a passing River Medical ambulance crew. On arrival, fire crews found a small fire that
activated the automatic fire sprinkler system and extinguished the fire. The building was filled with smoke. A water pipe supplying a fire hydrant broke
during the incident causing water damage due to erosion. Fire crews searched the entire building and
found that no one was inside the building at the time of the incident. A total of 16 firefighters responded on three
fire engines and one ladder truck. A
Battalion Chief and a support unit also responded.
The building is abandoned and electricity has been shut off
for some time. No injuries to
firefighters or civilians were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation
at this time.
