Family Safety Day
Two events come together as one again this Saturday,
September 29, 2007, the second annual “FAMILY SAFETY DAY”.
This event is sure to provide a lot of fun and
excitement throughout the day for the entire family. Children may participate in a safety obstacle
course, enter bike competitions, receive a raffle ticket for bicycle giveaways,
get temporary tattoos, enjoy arts & crafts, bounce on inflatable toys,
climb aboard a fire truck, and enjoy a free hotdog. All that is needed is a bicycle and a helmet.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
New this year a skate board, razor and B.M.X. bike
dirt jump competition. Registration is
mandatory for participants to ride in or compete in these two areas. Registration may be done at the Aquatic Community
Center this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday at the event. Registration documents must be notarized for
all participants and only competitors will be allowed inside the skate park
& bmx dirt jump course.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the Fire
Truck Tug, which is always a lot of fun. What is a Fire Truck Tug? The Lake Havasu City Fire
Department has donated the use of a real fire truck and the team that pulls it
in the fastest time wins. Teams consist of up to 10 members. Registration for
the Fire Truck Tug is $100 per team the day of the event. All proceeds go directly to our local Lake
Havasu City Special Olympians.
In
addition, the Police Department will be
on hand for bicycle registrations and licensing and car seat safety
checks will be performed on-site courtesy of Interagency Council.
Family
Safety Day will kick off in Rotary Community Park at 10 a.m. and run until 2
p.m.
