FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Third Annual Fire Truck Tug to Benefit Special Olympics

The Professional Fire Fighters Association, F.O.P. Lodge 47, local law enforcement, the Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation Department and the Kiwanis clubs of Lake Havasu invite everyone to participate in the third annual Fire Truck Tug to benefit Special Olympics.  This year’s tug will again be held in conjunction with Family Safety Day on September 29 at the south end of Rotary Community Park.

What is a Fire Truck Tug?  The Lake Havasu City Fire Department has donated the use of a real fire truck.  The truck will be at the Rotary Community Park.  Teams pull the truck 10 feet by a rope attached to the truck.  The team that pulls it in the fastest time – wins!

Three categories of teams:

Males up to 8 members

Females up to 10 members.

Co-ed - Five one gender and four the other.

Registration:  $100 per team.  Money may be raised several ways (teams can have members pay; teams can find a sponsor; or conduct fundraisers).  Registration may be done the day of the event.  All proceeds go to Lake Havasu City Special Olympics.

What is Family Safety Day?  Family Safety Day is a free family event in which the Annual Bike Rodeo and the Fire Truck Tug have been combined.

What activities are there?  Along with the fire truck tug, there is a bicycle obstacle course, free bike registration & licensing, child car seat safety checks and installation, airbrush tattoos, bike-board-razor competitions, bike giveaways, bounce house, free hotdogs, chips, drinks and more.   Registration for the bmx-board-razor competitions is required.  Please call the Aquatic Center for more information regarding registration and the event.`

When?  Saturday, September 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the south end of Rotary Community Park.

Registration forms available at the Aquatic/Community Center. (Pre-registration is recommended, but may also be done on site the day of the event)
