Police Charge Woman with Shooting Death of 73 Year Old Husband

Lake Havasu City Police Detectives are investigating a Homicide which occurred Sunday September 2, 2007 at 4000 Bear Dr.

At about 7:05 pm on Sunday evening Officers responded to 4000 Bear Dr. in reference to a 911 call from Candice Wright. Wright told Dispatch that she had returned home to find her husband, William Wright, lying unconscious in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor.

William Horsburgh Wright, age 73, was pronounced dead at the scene. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest area. There was no sign of a struggle in the residence and no apparent motive for the death. Candice Lynne Wright, age 57, the victim’s wife, has been charged with one count each of First and Second Degree Murder in the death of William. First Degree Murder involves premeditation and Second Degree Murder includes intentionally causing the death of another person.

During her initial appearance on Monday September 3, 2007 Candice was remanded to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriffs Office and is being held without bond.

An autopsy is scheduled.

This case is still under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Bureau of the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
