FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NIGHTTIME HYDRANT FLUSHING SCHEDULED

To maintain water quality in the area, the Lake Havasu City Water Division will be performing nighttime hydrant flushing Wednesday, August 1, in pressure zone #3.  Hydrants will be flushed from approximately 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening until approximately 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

Hydrants will be opened and flushed until water runs clear.  The areas to be completed during Wednesday night and Thursday morning include El Dorado Avenue No., between Cisco Drive So. and the intersection at Lander Lane, McCulloch Boulevard between El Dorado Avenue South to the intersection at Laredo Lane, Bermuda Avenue between El Dorado Avenue No. and McCulloch Boulevard, Daytona Avenue between Starline Drive and McCulloch Boulevard, Drifter Drive, Dolphin Drive, El Toro Drive, Aztec Drive, Southwester Drive, and Cisco Drive. Performing hydrant flushing at night minimizes inconvenience to residents and motorists.  Reminder signs of the flushing program will be placed at the most visible locations in the area early Wednesday.

During the flushing schedule, the Water Division asks that residents conserve water by refraining from any unnecessary water usage, such as filling pools, washing cars, cleaning driveways, and doing laundry between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.  We would also like to inform our residents that the Transportation Division will be sweeping streets shortly thereafter.  Standard native material will be used to replace any materials washed away within the city right-of-way that may result from the hydrant flushing.  Colored rock or landscaping that has been placed within the city right-of-way will not be replaced in kind. Customers concerned about their colored gravel may wish to rake this material from the street’s edge back approximately 3-5 feet before Wednesday night when the area hydrants will be flushed.

Questions may be directed to the Lake Havasu City Water Division at 855-2618.  As always, the Public Works Department appreciates the public’s cooperation during this necessary maintenance operation.
