Beginning Monday, May 7, Lake
Havasu City Public Works Department Street Section crews will black-out the
existing roadway stripes on Lake Havasu Avenue between South Palo Verde
Boulevard and Industrial Boulevard. This
work is being done to allow the re-striping of the roadway to allow two
northbound lanes and one southbound lane with a continuous left-turn lane. The Lake Havasu City Council directed the new
left-turn lane be created to alleviate traffic and crash concerns at several
business driveways and roadway intersections in the area.
Drivers should use caution in the
area while crews are working, especially during the period after the existing
stripes are blacked out on Monday, and before the new stripes are painted on
Tuesday. Motorists are also advised to remain
alert while drivers become accustomed to the revised traffic patterns.
This change is considered temporary
in anticipation of this section of roadway being widened to five lanes in
approximately two years.
