Lake Havasu City Fire Captain Lea Browning and Robert Kummelehne, who is retired from the Los Angeles County Fire
Department, represented Lake Havasu City at this year’s World Police and Fire
Games held in Adelaide, Australia. Lake
Havasu City has been represented at the bi-annual event for ten years, with
Captain Browning participating in the last four games. This year, she brought home five medals,
including two gold medals for team swimming, two silver for
individual swimming events and a bronze medal for the Dragon Boat
competition.
Kummelehne has been a Lake Havasu City resident
for over six years and has competed in the World Police and Fire Games since
its inception in the early 1980’s. He
has competed in a variety of sports over the years, but his focus is now on
road cycling and mountain biking. This
year, he brought home two gold medals and a silver in three separate cycling
events.
The World Police and Fire Games is open to public safety
professionals from around the globe and over 8,000 international firefighters,
law enforcement, customs and corrections officers competed in 79 Olympic-style
and specialty sports conducted across 50 venues over ten days.
The next World Police and Fire Games will be held in
Vancouver, British Columbia and both Browning and Kummelehne
are planning to be there to represent Lake Havasu City.
