In accordance with a proclamation originally signed by President John F. Those professionals include the dedicated men and women who manage water, sewer, streets, vehicle maintenance, engineering, and public buildings."

Local activities scheduled for National Public Works Week includes an equipment show-and-tell that will take place at Starline Elementary School on May 16 and at Jamaica Elementary School on May 22, with representatives from the Public Works Department explaining the function of each piece of equipment.  A public display is in place at the Library until the end of May and the public is invited to sign up for a free bus tour of key Public Works facilities in the community to take place on Monday, May 21.  Call Dory Carroll 855-0336.  The Public Works Maintenance Facility at 900 London Bridge Road will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24.
