Lake Havasu City Police responded to a four-vehicle crash
that occurred at the Mesquite boulevard intersection on State Route 95 at
approximately 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 27.
Two of the four drivers involved in the melee were transported to Havasu
Regional Medical Center with what are believed to be non life-threatening
injuries. One of the drivers injured is
a 64-year old male who was driving an empty dump truck that investigators
report was traveling southbound on SR95 in excess of the posted speed limit. The driver’s attempt to stop the dump truck
at the Mesquite Blvd. intersection put the vehicle into an uncontrolled skid to
the left and into oncoming lanes and into the path of a northbound, 1994
Oldsmobile van driven by a 70-year old female (the second patient transported
to HRMC). The van spun to the left,
striking a 2002 Ford pickup driven by an adult male (no age given) that was
stopped in the southbound left turn lane of SR95. The dump truck then crashed into a 2000
Arizona Game and Fish Department Dodge pickup driven by a 31-year old female
Game & Fish employee who was on duty at the time of the crash. Investigators report evidence at the scene indicate the front brakes on the dump truck were not
operating and an inspection of the vehicle revealed several other safety
violations. Charges related to the crash
are pending further investigation.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this case.
