The Lake Havasu City Police Department has announced plans to
add two Honda ST1300PA motorcycles to its fleet of patrol vehicles. Chief Dan Doyle stated, “During our public
forums and other contacts with citizen groups, the number one concern expressed
by citizens is traffic-related issues. The
City Manager and City Council authorized the purchase of these motorcycles to
assist us in the education and enforcement of traffic laws.”
Motor officers attend a three-week course in operating a
police motorcycle. Officer Clint Wilcox
attended the Chandler Police Department course in the fall of 2007. A second officer will attend the course in
April of this year. Motor officers will
work staggered, 40-hour work weeks and focus on high accident and complaint
areas.
The Honda ST1300PA model was selected for its reliability and
technologically-advanced handling and braking systems.
