FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNUAL FOG SEAL PROGRAM

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LANE CLOSURES

The Lake Havasu City Street Maintenance Division is scheduling street sealing for the Sailing Hawks, Wallapai, Pima and Caribbean Sewer Areas.  Applying fog seal to the street’s surface is an efficient and effective method of extending the life of asphalt pavement.

The work will begin 8 a.m. Monday, October 22, and end by early afternoon each day.  Fog seal is applied to one traffic lane in each direction each day until all lanes on these streets have been completed.  The street sealing material takes approximately four hours to dry and flyers are distributed at least 24 hours prior to the work taking place.

Motorist traveling on a street being fog sealed should anticipate some inconveniences due to the construction activities and turning restrictions.  Motorists should avoid driving between cones to cross the seal coat as damage may occur.  When the traffic control devices have been removed, the new surface is ready for use.

It is recommended motorists use alternative routes wherever possible.  As always, the public is requested to use caution and obey all traffic signs when traveling through construction zones.  Please contact the Streets and Transportation office at 855-3377 if there are any questions or special concerns regarding this project.
