LHCFD responds to three structure fires in nine-hour period
The Lake Havasu City Fire Department responded to three separate
structure fires in a nine hour period on Thursday, January 25. The first was called in at approximately 2:20 p.m.
at 2590 San Juan Drive by the occupant who was alerted by a smoke detector. Fire crews found a garage fire and were able
to gain control within 21 minutes. One
person was home at the time and was able to get out safely. The fire was contained to the garage with
damages totaling approximately $20,000. The
cause of the fire is still under investigation. Three Engine Companies, one Truck Company and
a Battalion Commander responded to the fire totaling 16 firefighters. One Desert Hills Fire Dept. engine also
responded to the fire and another moved up into the city for coverage due to
multiple calls at the time of the fire.
The second fire was reported at approximately 3:40 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire in a
walk-in closet at 3002 Jamaica Ct. The
occupants all got out safely without injury. The fire was under control within 17 minutes
and was contained to the closet. The
fire started from clothing touching a hot light bulb and caused an estimated
$1,000 in damage. Four Engine Companies,
one Truck Company and a Battalion Commander totaling 20 firefighters responded
to the scene.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., occupants at 649 Aloha Dr.
discovered a fire in the garage after smelling smoke. The two occupants were able to get out safely
without injury. 17 firefighters manning
three engines, one truck and a battalion commander were able to contain the
fire to the garage and had the fire under control within nine minutes. The fire was started by smoking materials in a
trash can and caused an estimated $5,000 damage.
In all three cases, the occupants were able to occupy their
homes for the night.
