Desert Rescue
June 04, 2018

At approximately 12:34 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, a hiker in their 20’s was reported to be lost and out of water at Sara Park, near Sara’s Crack.  The hiker became separated from the rest of the group and decided to turn back to the parking lot.  The group arrived at the parking lot and could not find the hiker.  Brief phone contact was made and they determined that the hiker was lost and possibly suffering from a heat related illness.  Two Engine Companies and a Battalion Chief responded with two rescue vehicles.  The hiker was located at approximately 1:00 p.m. and removed from the desert.  The hiker was treated by Fire Paramedics and transported to HRMC by an AMR ambulance crew with a non-life threatening, heat related illness.
