Havasu Youth Advisory Council Seeks Volunteers for National Public Lands Day
August 16, 2017

To celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD), Havasu Youth Advisory Council is partnering with Lake Havasu City and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to make improvements at the SARA Park Trailhead, September 30, 2017, from 7am to 9am. HYAC is seeking volunteers to share in the celebration and participate in the construction activities.

Tasks for volunteers will include signing trails, planting native plants, trash clean-up, shoveling and moving small and large rocks, and other maintenance and repair to help identify the three main trails at the trailhead. An educational display area will allow various organizations to answer questions and provide information about the trailhead and trails will be on site.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony will top off the morning’s activities at 9:00am.

To register for the event, please visit the City website at www.lhcaz.gov click on “volunteering” in the search bar, and then click “Register to Volunteer.” After entering your personal information, select the area of interest “Community Beautification” under the “Maintenance Services” section. After following quick easy steps to register, you will receive an email confirmation with additional instructions.

Pre-registration from interested volunteers is required for the event and must be submitted in the system, no later than Friday, September 15, 2017. Those who show up without pre-registering are welcome to enjoy the SARA Park trails, education booths, and ribbon cutting ceremony, but will not be able to participate in the maintenance work of the National Public Lands Day event at the trailhead.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance public lands. Join Lake Havasu City and Bureau of Land Management officials and thousands of other Americans across the country in the celebration. Everyone benefits from public lands, and National Public Lands Day is a great opportunity for citizens to give back to the community and spend time outdoors.

Register today before the deadline! For more information, contact Jerri Bracamonte at (928) 453-4141.
