HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ARRESTED FOR THREAT
October 25, 2018

On October 25, 2018 at approximately 6:00 a.m. the Lake Havasu City Police Department was contacted by the Michigan State Police after receiving information about a possible threat to the Lake Havasu City High School.

A 15 yr. old Lake Havasu City High School student left a message on his step-father's phone in Michigan.  In the message, the student attempted to disguise his voice and stated, "I am going to shoot up your step-son's school."  The step-father recognized his step-son's voice and contacted the Michigan State Police who then contacted the Lake Havasu City Police Dept.   Lake Havasu City police officers immediately began investigating the threat and school administrators were notified of the situation.

As a result of the investigation, a 15 yr. old male student was arrested at his residence this morning around 7:00 a.m. for making the threat.  The student did not have any firearms and did not have an actual plan to follow through on the threat.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind all individuals to be responsible with comments made or pictures posted on social media as it relates to threats of any kind involving any institution.   A comment or post intended as a joke can potentially be considered a threat.   This is a violation of the law and an investigation can lead to the arrest of those responsible or involved.   The Lake Havasu City Police Department will take all reported threats seriously and fully investigate any alleged incidents.
