Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Officer-Involved Shooting
February 15, 2017

On February 13, 2017, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4500 block of Park Drive in Golden Shores, AZ, after dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a woman who said that she had just been shot at by a neighbor. Upon arrival the deputies were confronted by Drey Krause, who was armed with a shotgun. Krause refused repeated commands from the deputies to drop the shotgun. One of the deputies fired his duty weapon and struck Krause.  Mr. Krause was treated on scene, and transported to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, AZ, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

At the request of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to the scene of the shooting to conduct the investigation. It is customary for the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office to have an outside law enforcement agency investigate any time one of their deputies is involved in a shooting incident.  The involved deputies have been placed on administrative leave, which is common with these types of incidents.

The investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department remains active, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
