ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THREAT INVESTIGATED
January 25, 2019

On January 23, at approximately 3:10 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department received information about a juvenile making threatening statements regarding bringing a gun and ammunition to Starline Elementary School on Thursday, January 24. 

The Lake Havasu City Police Department Street Crimes Unit immediately began investigating the threats. Several students from Starline Elementary School were interviewed regarding the statements made, including the juvenile male responsible for making the statements.

As a result of the investigation on January 23, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the 12-year-old male elementary student was referred to the Mohave County Juvenile Probation Office for threats, disorderly conduct, and interference with or disruption of an educational institution. 

At the time of the investigation, the juvenile male did not have access to any firearms and there was no plan to follow through on the threat.  School administrators were notified of the situation.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind all individuals to be responsible with comments made or pictures posted on social media as it relates to threats of any kind involving any institution.   A comment or post intended as a joke can potentially be considered a threat.   This is a violation of the law and an investigation can lead to the arrest of those responsible or involved.  The Lake Havasu City Police Department will take all reported threats seriously and fully investigate any alleged incidents.
