SUBJECT ARRESTED FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT WITH A WEAPON
November 19, 2020

On November 18, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to a report of a subject who was going in and out of his residence in the 800 block of Satellite Drive yelling at people he believed were on his roof. The subject later identified as 29-year-old Lake Havasu City resident William G. Cox, then went inside of his residence and neighbors heard a gunshot as Cox yelled, “That is your warning shot.”

When officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with Cox but he refused officer commands to come outside. Officers were able to observe Cox through a window of his residence. Cox was seen walking around wearing a tactical style vest and holding a rifle.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s SWAT team responded to the location and attempted to contact Cox; however, he still refused to exit his residence. After several hours of negotiations, Cox did eventually surrender without further incident around 7:15 a.m., and was taken into custody. There were no signs that anyone was on the roof of Cox’s residence and neighbors did not observe any other subjects at the residence during this time.

A search warrant was served at the residence by Lake Havasu City detectives. It was discovered that Cox had discharged two rounds from a .223 caliber rifle into the ceiling of his residence.

As a result of the investigation, William G. Cox was charged with disorderly conduct with a weapon. During his initial appearances, Cox was held on a $10,000 cash only bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
