SUBJECT ARRESTED FOR WEAPONS VIOLATION
July 05, 2019

On July 4, at approximately 9:57 p.m., officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to the parking lot of Big 5 Sporting Goods, at 251 Lake Havasu Avenue South, after reports of multiple gunshots were observed.  The suspect was described as an olive-skinned male with tattoos on his chest, approximately 30 years of age, and was observed pointing a handgun in the air when the gunshots were fired. The male suspect then left the area in an unknown direction.

Officers responded to the area of Big 5 Sporting Goods and observed two males walking north in the 200 block of Lake Havasu Avenue South, where Petros Dovlatyan, a 27-year-old resident of Granada Hills, California, was contacted and identified as the suspect in this case. Dovlatyan was detained and taken to the Lake Havasu City Police Department for further investigation by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit.

During the investigation, it was determined that Dovlatyan pointed the firearm in the air toward the west and fired multiple shots. Dovlatyan did not fire into any structures, in the direction of any occupied vehicles, and no injuries have been reported. Five shell casings from a .380 caliber weapon were recovered from the scene of the incident. However, the firearm was not located.

As a result of the investigation, Dovlatyan was arrested and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and disorderly conduct with a weapon. During his initial appearance, Dovlatyan was held on a $5,000 bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
