HELP CENTER
Chief Dan Doyle

Welcome to the Lake Havasu City Police Department. We have the privilege of presenting the programs and accomplishments of the department and the many members that dedicated themselves to make our community a safe and crime free place to live and work. We continue to strive to provide the highest quality of police services available. As stated in the department mission statement we are committed to ensuring a safe and secure community.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department was founded in July of 1979 and in a relatively short period of time has grown to become one of the leaders in progressive police services in the state of Arizona. Lake Havasu City Police Department employees possess strong values that emphasize ethical behavior, principled decision making and unparalleled commitment to the community.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is committed to the concept of Community Oriented Policing and has incorporated this concept into every facet of operation. Community Oriented Policing has many varied definitions but is generally considered a philosophy that promotes proactive community partnerships to address the root cause of crime and fear as well as other community and police problems. The hope is that by using this method, the underlying problem will be eliminated or reduced to the point that citizens are satisfied and the police will not have to return. One of the cornerstones of our community policing effort is the Neighborhood Watch program. Neighborhood Watch is not only the eyes and ears of a neighborhood, but a process by which neighbors can develop relationships and become a partner in the crime fighting efforts.

As one of the newer police departments in the State of Arizona, we are a young, expanding police department where opportunity abounds. If you are interested in a career in law enforcement, we welcome you to consider joining our department. Standards are high, but the rewards of serving a growing community in a professional organization are many.

Please review the various programs that are part of this site and if you have comments or questions, I encourage you to contact us or leave us a message.

We hope you find our web site useful and informative. As special topics or problems arise we will make that information available. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to working together to create a safe and secure environment for the citizens and guests of Lake Havasu City.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 13-3825 (Sex Offender Community Notification Law).  This offender has indicated he will be living in Lake Havasu City.

William R. Deihl resides at 3260 Saratoga Avenue in Lake Havasu City.  Deihl is a 38-year-old white male, 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes.  In 2001, Deihl was convicted of sexual assault of a child in Delta, Colorado.

Deihl has been convicted of and has completed his sentence for a sex offense. Deihl has registered with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office as a convicted Sex Offender and is currently residing at the listed address. Deihl is not currently wanted by the Lake Havasu City Police Department or any other police agency at this time.

“Megan’s Law” is the name for a 1996 federal law, and informal name for subsequent state laws, requiring law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders.  The law was named after seven-year-old Megan Kanka, who was raped and murdered by a sex offender who lived in her neighborhood.  Megan’s parents demanded legislative action and believed every parent should have the right to know if a sexual predator moves into their neighborhood.

A risk assessment determines what level sex offender an individual is based on a series of questions and point values.  The purpose of the assessment is to try and gauge the offender’s likelihood of relapse into criminal behavior.  There are three levels of sex offenders in Arizona ranging from a low of 1 to a high of 3.  Level 1 offenders are not community notifiable by state statute and are considered to be a low risk to reoffend.   Level 2 and level 3 sex offenders are community notifiable, with level 2 considered an intermediate risk and level 3 considered a high risk and most likely to reoffend.

This notification is not intended to cause fear; rather it is believed that an informed community is a safer community. Further information on crime prevention, personal safety or to help concerned citizens join or start a Neighborhood Watch Program is available by calling the Lake Havasu City Police Department at (928) 855-1171.  If you have any information regarding current criminal activity on this or any other offender, please call Havasu Silent Witness at (928) 855-TIPS or the Police Department.
