It is a distinct honor for me to serve the City of Lake Havasu as your new police chief. This is a wonderful community full of hardworking and very caring citizens. I am so happy to be a member of this community and to serve the public safety needs of our residents and businesses.

The mission of the Lake Havasu City Police Department is to ensure a safe and secure community. But, we cannot do this alone. This is why partnerships between the police department professionals and our citizens is paramount in preventing and solving crime, and maintaining order in a manner that promotes public trust and confidence. Every citizen plays a role in our success and coordinating our efforts will solve problems. My role in realizing this mission is to serve as a leader that exemplifies the moral principles and professional excellence I swore to uphold when I joined the department more than 25 years ago.

It is equally important that our department protects the residents of Lake Havasu in a way that reflects courtesy, civility, and respect. Preserving the rights and freedoms of all residents is an organizational mandate. For this reason, I am committed to leading by example and to holding my staff, and myself, accountable to a standard of selfless service to our community.

Our goal is to remain a highly respected and professional Police Department that serves as a model for our region and state. We will achieve this by maintaining high ethical standards, state accreditation, strong relationships with community stakeholders and innovative approaches to keep Lake Havasu a safe place to live and play.

On Tuesday, December 18, the Lake Havasu City Police Department provided free training to local gas station owners and gas station employees in response to the recent gas pump skimmers being found in our community.  The purpose of the training was to create awareness and partner with local fuel stations to identify and stop criminal activity.

The training was held at the Lake Havasu City Police Department and was not open to the public.   All local stations were contacted and provided with an opportunity to attend. The training was instructed by Lake Havasu City Police Detective Robert Shoemake and offered insight into what a skimmer looks like, how to recognize if a pump has been tampered with and measures to take to help safeguard gas pumps and the community.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to thank those businesses that attended including the Circle K stations on Kiowa Blvd., Industrial Blvd. and Lake Drive, along with Tri-M Mini Mart, Campbell Cove 1-Stop, Maverik, London Bridge Chevron and Zip Fuels.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department continues its investigation and is trying to identify those responsible for installing the skimmers.  Additional information regarding skimming devices can be found at the Arizona Attorney General’s website https://www.azag.gov/consumer/card-skimmers.

If you see suspicious activity, especially around any gas station pumps, you are encouraged to contact the police department.  Silent Witness will pay a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved.  Anonymous information can be called into Lake Havasu Silent Witness at 928-854-TIPS (8477). Citizens can utilize the police department’s anonymous text messaging tip service by texting LHCPD and your message to “CRIMES” or 274637.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously through a web page based tip service at www.tipsoft.com or via the “TipSubmit” mobile application. Anyone using Android, Windows or Apple platforms can download the LHCPD app and submit a tip through the app as well.
