Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit are actively investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 9, 2025, in Kingman, Arizona.
At approximately 1:57 p.m. on that day, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were dispatched to the 4000 block of North Ty Street in response to a domestic violence report. The incident involved two roommates, and one male reportedly threatened the other with a firearm and made statements about pouring gasoline around the home.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they attempted to make contact with the suspect, who had barricaded himself in a bedroom and claimed to be armed. Law enforcement established a perimeter while activating the MCSO and Bullhead City Police Department (BHCPD) SWAT teams.
After approximately two to three hours of negotiation, the suspect exited the residence and pointed a firearm directly at officers. In response, three MCSO deputies and one BHCPD officer discharged their rifles, striking the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey of Kingman, was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
No officers or deputies were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the names of the involved MCSO deputies and BHCPD officer are being withheld at this time.
In accordance with standard protocol, an outside agency is conducting the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
