July 17, 2023

At approximately 8:25 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023, a fire was reported by multiple 911 calls in the 3400 block of Kearsage Pl.  The callers stated that two motorhomes and the front of the residence were on fire.  The first arriving fire company reported heavy fire and smoke from two motorhomes with extension into the residence. Five Engine Companies, one Truck Company, one Medic Unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in approximately 65 minutes.  The occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the fire. Twenty-five dogs were rescued by firefighters that searched the residence. One Firefighter was transported to HRMC with heat exhaustion due to extreme weather. Multiple other Firefighters were evaluated in rehab and released back to work at the scene.

LHCFD CERT responded with four Members to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Off duty LHCFD Firefighters were recalled back due to work and Desert Hills Fire Department moved up to Lake Havasu City to assist with other 911 calls during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
