Chitalpa
CHITALPA
x Chitalpa tashkentensis

An intergenic hybrid cross between Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis) and Southern Catalpa (Catalpa bignonoides), the Chitalpa is a small relatively drought tolerant tree with beautiful-trumpet shaped flowers. This gorgeous tree inherits its 3 to 5 inch dark green leaves from its Chilopsis parent, but gains its hardiness from its Catalpa parent. Thus, this is a great tree that can withstand many U.S. hardiness zones, and be drought tolerant as well.
