Smoke Bush
SMOKE BUSH
Cotinus coggygria

The Smoke Bush is a beautiful plant that can be trained to be either a tree or a shrub. The striking autumn colors produced by this plant include variations of pink and yellow to scarlet that have a wispy smoke-like appearance. It gets its common name not from the tiny, insignificant, yellowish flowers which appear in branching, terminal panicles in spring, but from the billowy hairs which turn a smoky pink to purplish pink in summer.
