Lake Havasu City currently has an Adopt a Street/Adopt a Wash Program. The Adopt-A-Street/Wash Program is a litter awareness program where civic/community groups, families, or businesses volunteer to pick up litter along Lake Havasu City washes.
WHAT LAKE HAVASU CITY PROVIDES
- Available Street/Wash segments for volunteer groups based on safety considerations, including traffic volumes, speeds, curves, and a number of intersections.
- Supply safety vests which must be returned after the work is finished.
- Fabricate and install signs identifying the name of the group.
- Supply litter bags and removes and disposes of the filled bags.
- Provide safety training for group coordinators.
WHAT VOLUNTEERS MUST PROVIDE
- Two year commitments to pick up litter along a segment of a city wash or Street.
- Schedule a date and time of each clean up with the Public Works Department contact.
- A commitment to pick up litter at least two times per year.
- Hold a safety briefing before each clean up.
- Designate a member as a coordinator.
- Maintain a working group of six to ten people.
