ARSON SUSPECT ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE FELONIES
December 01, 2025

On November 30, 2025, at approximately 3:02 PM, Keith Gensamer was taken into custody about two miles south of Lake Havasu City. A Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputy and Bureau of Land Management Officer located Gensamer’s trailer after receiving information from the Lake Havasu City Police Department.

After the vehicle was found, officers established surveillance, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Teams were activated. Gensamer was located inside the trailer and arrested without incident.

During the interview with Gensamer, investigators determined that he was the individual responsible for the arson at Calvary Church. The investigation confirmed that Gensamer forced entry into the building and poured gasoline throughout a portion of the interior before igniting it.

This incident does not appear to have been a targeted attack on this specific church or group of religious faith, and investigators found no evidence that Gensamer was affiliated with any specific hate group.

Gensamer stated that his intent was to provoke a police response that would result in his death, but after igniting the fire, he became frightened and fled the area. He also reported that he was seeking a way to draw attention to personal issues.

Keith Gensamer was charged with Arson of a Structure, Aggravated Criminal Damage to a Religious Structure, Burglary, Misconduct Involving Weapons and Engaging in an act of Terrorism. After his initial appearance in court Gensamer was held on a $1,000,000 cash bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Detention Center.
