May 13, 2022

On Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Mayor Cal Sheehy visited New Day School South infant and toddler development professionals to commend the completion and success of the LA Paz/Mohave Language Development Project, funded by a First Things First early education grant.

The Language Development Project is the brain child of Early Childhood Education Associates Inc. in union with Dr. Renate Zangl author and international researcher. The backbone of the project is the award-winning publication, Raising A Talker combined with parents resources and ongoing developmental checkpoints monitoring language and brain growth.

The New Day School is dedicated to the Language Project and reporting exciting brain gains that have a lifetime of impact. Mayor Sheehy, is vocal in his support of young children, heralded the contributions of early care professionals. As a community, the investment in the youngest brains renders the riches rewards. Lake Havasu City’s future requires a highly educated workforce and that education begins before our children reach kindergarten.

The Language Development Project is free and open to child care centers and family child care alike. For more information or questions about the program, contact Margee Chieffo.
