FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION
January 24, 2023

On Friday, January 20, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on SR95 just north of Mulberry Avenue. During the investigation, it was determined that a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by 18-year-old Lake Havasu City resident James Whiting, was traveling north on SR95 when he lost control and left the roadway to the right. Whiting negotiated through landscaping and ultimately struck a speed limit sign, at which time he was ejected from the motorcycle.

Whiting was wearing a helmet and was found unresponsive upon arrival. Officers provided lifesaving efforts, however, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team responded to the crash scene to conduct the investigation. SR95 between Mulberry Avenue and Smoketree Avenue was closed for several hours. The crash is still under investigation, and speed does appear to be a factor. The decedent’s family has been notified.
