HYAC CALLS ON PUBLIC TO HELP REACH TENNIS SHOES DRIVE GOAL
April 21, 2022

Havasu Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) invites the public to attend their upcoming Back on Your Feet Tennis Shoe Drive-Thru event this Saturday, April 23, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon to help reach their collection goal. The event is held at the City Hall parking lot located at 2330 McCulloch Boulevard N. and features a convenient drive-thru for the public to drop off tennis shoes without having to exit their vehicles.

The purpose of the project is to collect gently used, barely worn, and new tennis shoes from the community for the local Clothes Closet to supply to those in need. Specifically needed are tennis shoes, men’s size 9 through 12 and for women’s size 6 through 10. Special request for all non-skid black tennis shoes for those working or re-entering the workforce.

HYAC set a goal of collecting 500 pairs at the beginning of the month. Thanks to all our Sponsors and the community that donated so far, we have collected 200 pairs towards our goal. We need the community’s help to collect 300 more by this Saturday.

Our sponsors included City Hall, Titan Gym & Fitness Center, Havasu Cross-fit, Feeling Good Fitness, Eight Lotus Yoga and Wellness, Llama Yama Yoga, Shred Factory, Print it Havasu, and Kimberly Michael Salon.

Gift cards to shoe stores and monetary donations made out to the Clothes Closet are also appreciated and can be dropped off at Print it Havasu at 2018 McCulloch Boulevard N, Ste. A, dropped off at National Bank of Arizona under “Clothes Closet Account,” or dropped off at City Hall on April 23 during the drive-thru collection event.

HYAC has been conducting service projects over the past 10 years to help raise funds in this community that includes benefiting teacher retention, promoting suicide awareness, improving our local lands, and stocking our local food bank. They are excited for this new project in helping the Clothes Closet fill their shoe shelves for all those in need.

By donating gently worn, and new tennis shoes to the Clothes Closet, the shoes will be given a second chance to make a difference in someone’s life.
