Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on December 29, 2023, in Kingman, Az.

On December 29, 2023, during the evening hours, officers with the Kingman Police Department were dispatched to a residence within the 1700 blk. of Golden Gate Ave., in Kingman, Az. in reference to a domestic disturbance. While officers were on scene, a male subject exited the front of the residence holding a shotgun. During the armed encounter, A Kingman Police Department Officer ultimately discharged his duty-issued firearm, striking the subject. The subject was identified as 39-year-old Kingman resident Andrew Romero. Romero was subsequently transported to the Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. where he is undergoing treatment.

No officers were injured during this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the names of the officers involved in the incident are not being released at this time. It is standard protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident.
