Kitchen Fire
September 21, 2016

At approximately 2:18 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, a neighbor in the 100 block of Mescal Loop reported a fire.  The occupant discovered smoke in the residence and walked over to the neighbor’s house to report it.  The first arriving fire company reported moderate smoke throughout the house.  One patient was identified as needing medical attention from a fall in the neighbor’s driveway not associated with the fire.  The fire was located and isolated to the oven.  Three engine companies, one truck company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire within 12 minutes.  There was no report of injuries to any civilians or firefighters resulting from the fire.  Crews remained on the scene an additional hour conducting salvage operations.  Damages were confined to the oven with minor smoke damage throughout the residence.  The cause of the fire was accidently turning on the oven with items stored inside it.
