Lake Havasu City Police Department Investigates Bullhead City Police Officer-Involved Shooting
September 19, 2016

On September 18, 2016, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Bullhead City Police officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call at a residence on Diamond Drive in Bullhead City, Arizona. Bullhead City Police received a 9-1-1 call regarding a domestic violence incident. Initial information indicated that upon arrival to the location, officers discovered that one of the subjects involved in the incident was 25-year-old Frank Terriquez. Officers discovered that Terriquez walked away from the residence and Terriquez was observed by a Bullhead City Police Officer walking through a dirt lot near the intersection of Hancock Drive and Coral Reef Drive. The officer exited his vehicle and began speaking with Mr.Terriquez. Initial information indicated that during the contact, a physical altercation occurred between the officer and Terriquez. Terriquez allegedly armed himself with a knife and continued to struggle with the officer. The officer ultimately fired his duty weapon, which struck Terriquez. Terriquez was treated on scene and air lifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment, where he remains in critical condition.

Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department have been called in to conduct the investigation. It is customary for the Bullhead City Police Department to have an outside police agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident. The officer was placed on routine administrative leave, which is also common with an officer involved shooting incident.

The investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department detectives is on-going and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
