LHCPD AWARDED GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT
October 15, 2020

The Lake Havasu City Police Department was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for conducting increased traffic enforcement operations. This will be for the 2020-2021 federal fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.

This Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, or S.T.E.P. Grant will provide the Lake Havasu City Police Department the ability to increase traffic enforcement capabilities by assigning personnel on overtime to concentrate on speed enforcement activities and aggressive driving.

The goal is to reduce the incidences of speeding related crashes, traffic fatalities and injuries resulting from speeding, aggressive driving, red light running and other forms of risky driving behavior.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department looks to make our community streets safer for all motorists through enforcement, education and public awareness. Traffic safety is one of the most frequent concerns the police department hears from the community.

As part of the grant safety contract, the police department is required to maintain and submit statistics to the GOHS on a regular basis.
