MALE ARRESTED AFTER POLICE STANDOFF AND PURSUIT
February 28, 2023

On February 16, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m. officers with the Lake Havasu city Police Department responded to the 200 block of Swanson Ave. after receiving information that a wanted subject, 35-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Cory Marks, was currently sitting in a parked vehicle near that location. Marks has been a subject of several recent criminal investigations, during which, he has displayed a propensity for violence and is known to possess multiple firearms and is considered armed and dangerous. Upon arrival in the area, officers determined that Marks appeared to be sleeping inside the parked vehicle.

Patrol officers, along with members of the Street Crimes Unit, utilized an armored vehicle to approach and begin issuing commands to Marks; however he failed to comply. Marks was able to drive around the armored vehicle and began attempting to evade officers in which a short vehicle pursuit ensued.

Marks’s vehicle collided with the police department’s armored vehicle near the intersection of State Route 95 and Swanson Ave., which ultimately caused Marks’s vehicle to become inoperable. Marks continued a short distance, and his vehicle left the highway, ultimately coming to rest after striking nearby landscaping.

Marks was taken into custody without further incident and no injuries were sustained during the pursuit or resulting collisions. During a subsequent search, multiple firearms were located inside the vehicle Marks was operating.

Marks was charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, unlawful flight, resisting arrest, escape, threats, DUI, aggravated harassment x2, and interfering with judicial proceedings.

During his initial appearance, Marks was held on a $45,000 cash only bond and was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
