On July 17, 2025, at approximately 9:21 a.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to the area near Oro Grande Elementary School following a report of an individual walking in the area with a firearm. The caller noted the individual did not appear to be threatening anyone but expressed concern.

Upon officers’ arrival, witnesses reported that the subject appeared to be a male juvenile, possibly carrying a toy gun of some sort. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate the individual to verify the report.

As a safety precaution, LHCPD has maintained an increased presence in the area and will continue to provide additional patrols around the school.
