School Threat on Social Media

On March 28, 2017, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department began receiving information from concerned parents, teachers and students regarding a threatening message posted on a social media site known as “Snapchat.” A post was made that said, “Don’t go to school tomorrow” with an emoji picture of a hand gun. 

The Lake Havasu City Police Department Street Crimes Unit began an investigation and was able to track down the source of the threatening message.  As a result of the investigation, a juvenile was arrested around 3:00 a.m., March 29, 2017, and charged with threats and a hoax. The investigation revealed there was no credible threat towards the school and no other subjects were involved in the threatening post. 

School administrators were notified of the situation.  The Lake Havasu City Police Department will have additional officers monitoring the school.
