STRUCTURE FIRE

At approximately 2:03 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, a fire was reported by multiple 911 callers in the 100 block of Mulberry Ave. Callers reported smoke and flames coming from a second story window of an apartment building. The first arriving fire company reported a working fire with smoke and flames coming from a second story window and people trapped in a second story adjoining unit. Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, one Medic Unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 20 minutes.

The trapped occupants on the second floor were rescued by the first arriving fire company and sustained no injury.  There were no other reported injuries and no injuries to firefighters. Approximately fourteen people were displaced because of the fire damage to the apartment building. 

The American Red Cross was notified and working with property management to assist the displaced residence.  LHCFD CERT responded with several members to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Desert Hills Fire Department moved up to Lake Havasu City to assist with other 911 calls during the incident. Crews remained on the scene an additional four hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
