Suspect Arrested in Stabbing
September 22, 2017

On September 21, 2017, at approximately 12:01 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Cottonwood Drive for a report of a stabbing.  A male and female suspect fled the area in a vehicle prior to the arrival of officers.

A short time later, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Magnolia Drive for another disturbance and located the male suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Tyler Pierson-Haupt. The Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit responded to both locations and conducted multiple interviews.  Search warrants were also served at both locations and additional items of evidence were seized.

During the investigation, it was determined that Pierson-Haupt and  35-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Lauren A. Mayo unlawfully entered the victim’s residence in the 200 block of Cottonwood Drive through an unlocked door. Pierson-Haupt and Mayo were confronted by one of the residents. Pierson-Haupt brandished a small knife and there was a physical altercation between Pierson-Haupt and the victim, resulting in the victim being stabbed. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. Pierson-Haupt also received minor cuts from the knife. The investigation is ongoing and there is reason to believe the unlawful entry was not random; however, more interviews are still being conducted.

Pierson-Haupt was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault, burglary, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.  Pierson-Haupt was held on a $250,000 bond during his initial appearance and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is currently looking for Lauren A. Mayo.
