SWAT STANDOFF LEADS TO ARRESTS FOLLOWING SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
April 14, 2023

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 9:53 p.m. officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to an address within the 2200 block of Fremont Dr. regarding a shooting. Preliminary information received from the caller indicated that a male subject was observed in the front yard of a residence firing several shots from a rifle.

Officers arrived within minutes, and observed two male subjects gathering what was believed to be spent bullet casings from within the front yard of where the shooting took place. These subjects were not compliant with the officers on scene and went inside of the residence in question. Information gathered suggested that other individuals may have been present in the residence during that time, including children.

With this information, The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s SWAT and Negotiation Teams were activated. After successful negotiations, two adult males and three juveniles exited the residence. The adult males were identified as thirty-five-year-old Lake Havasu City Resident Mario Baltazar and eighteen-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Daniel Monreal.

Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to investigate the situation. No one was injured during this event. Both Baltazar and Monreal were ultimately arrested and charged with disorderly conduct with a weapon as well as tampering with evidence. Following their initial court appearance, both Monreal and Baltazar were held on a $10,000 cash only bond. They were subsequently transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
