Temporary Dog Park Closures for Non-Routine Maintenance and Turf Recovery
November 01, 2016

In an effort to provide better accommodations at the City’s dog parks, Lions Dog Park will be closed from Monday, November 07, 2016 at 6:30 a.m. to Monday, November 14, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. This will be the last closure for this location this year. By closing the facility and asking patrons and their pets to use the other dog parks (Dylan’s Dog Park at SARA and Avalon Dog Park) during this time, crews will be able to perform non-routine maintenance and allow the turf to recover. In addition, during this closure, crews will be adding dog agility features (concrete pipe) for exercising your pet as a trial project. We appreciate your assistance and patience.

We anticipate closing the Dylan’s Dog Park at SARA Park once more this year (shortened to four days) for extensive tree trimming and also closing Avalon Dog Park once more for maintenance work including reconstructing the south entrance to Accessible Standards. Tentative dates for this year’s remaining efforts are as follows:

  • Dylan’s Dog Park, SARA - 11/14/16 to 11/18/16 (shortened to opening Friday Morning)
  • Avalon Dog Park - 12/05/16 to 12/12/16

We appreciate your patience for these enhanced maintenance closures. For questions or comments on this effort, please contact Mark Clark, Maintenance Services Manager at 928-855-3377 or clarkm@lhcaz.gov
