WARRANT AND DRUG ARREST

On May 19, 2022, at 5:00 P.M., Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, with the assistance of the SWAT team, and officers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s K9 and Helicopter units executed a search warrant in the area of Lone Tree BLM Campground, which is located approximately 7 miles north of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

On May 19, 2022, Lake Havasu City Police Department Detectives received information that 41-year-old Texas resident Michael McCaskey was located at a campsite just outside of Lake Havasu City and had an arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon out of Houston, Texas. Officers responded to the Lone Tree BLM Campground and were able to arrest McCaskey after he engaged in a foot pursuit with officers. A search warrant was served at McCaskey’s campsite, and two 9mm semi-auto handguns and approximately 145 grams of methamphetamine were located. 

As a result of the investigation, Michael McCaskey was arrested and charged with the Fugitive from Justice Warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prohibited Possessor, and Possession of a Firearm during a Drug Offense. McCaskey is being held on a $50,000.00 cash-only bond and was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
