The Lake Havasu City Fire Department reminds everyone that while boating or participating in lake activities, children under 13 are required to wear a properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest at all times.
LHCFD says adults are the most important component in drowning prevention. Active, sober and distraction-free adult supervision of children in and around water is life-saving. Designate a ‘Water Watcher’ to ensure that there is always someone dedicated to watching the water and children. Make sure that small children or inexperienced swimmers are within arm’s reach, and wearing a life vest while in or near the water. Older children should swim with a partner every time.
