On Saturday, February 1, McCulloch Boulevard is temporarily closed for the 39th Annual Winterfest Street Festival from Acoma Boulevard to Smoketree Avenue, beginning at 2:00 a.m. and reopening at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2. The hours of the Winterfest event are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2.

In an effort to maintain our roads, parking lots, and walking paths, Lake Havasu City is continuing its pavement preservation program with the application of crack and mastic seals to various surfaces, starting with the multi-use walking path along Highway 95 on Monday, January 27. This section spans from McCulloch Boulevard South to Palo Verde Boulevard North and is expected to take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department wants to inform the community about a growing nationwide trend involving the theft of Hyundai and Kia vehicles. This trend has emerged from social media posts exploiting a security vulnerability in certain models that lack a “push-to-start” ignition system. Both Hyundai and Kia have released software updates to mitigate vulnerability. Owners of Hyundai and Kia vehicles with a keyed ignition are encouraged to contact their trusted dealership to confirm if their vehicle is affected and the process for upgrading their vehicle’s software.

Lake Havasu City Public Works Department announces two upcoming road closures at Smoketree Avenue are in place to facilitate necessary water infrastructure improvements.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., on January 17, 2025, a passerby reported a house fire in the 3300 block of Paloverde Boulevard North. The first arriving fire company reported heavy smoke and heat inside the residence, with an attic fire overhead. Five engine companies, one medic unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire in 28 minutes. The occupants were not home at the time of the incident. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene for an additional two hours conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation. LHCFD CERT Crews also responded with seven members to provide support and Rehab duties for working firefighters.

Lake Havasu City is in the final stages of roadway construction along Riviera Boulevard and Riviera Drive. To ensure public safety and efficient project completion, specific closures and detours, including flaggers, are implemented next week, beginning Monday, January 20, 2025. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and avoid these areas whenever possible.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, a recreational vehicle fire was reported by the occupant in the 1500 block of Beachcomber Boulevard. The first arriving Battalion Chief reported a Fifth Wheel RV fully engulfed in fire. Three engine companies, a truck company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire in 30 minutes. The occupant evacuated the RV and was uninjured. Crews remained on the scene for an additional two and a half hours conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
