SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE NOW IN EFFECT
March 27, 2023

City Lake Havasu City approved an ordinance establishing rules, regulations and licensing requirements for short-term and vacation rentals. The ordinance went into effect on March 1, 2023.

Short-term and vacation rental property owners are required to register and obtain a permit for each property prior to being offered for rent, provide neighbors notification of intent to rent, evidence of insurance, a form of personal identification to apply and include the required acknowledgment of Lake Havasu City Code Chapter 5.20, Vacation Rentals, effective March 1, 2023. Short-term rental permits are $250 a year.

Properties that previously registered are still in the system but the registration has been “reset” requiring short-term and vacation rental property owners to validate and acknowledge the terms of the new city code. If you own a short-term rental in Lake Havasu City, you should have received an email or letter with instructions to register your property with the City. City Staff is here to assist short-term and vacation rental owners as they navigate the licensing system and requirements.
